Trapper 15_38. Lots of gravelly launches and landings. Now there's bottom damage at the very narrow part of one end.
The damage goes into the plywood.
I have what I need to repair the deep gash,
but I'm concerned about the repair entrapping some water in there.
How long should I let the canoe dry?
How could I be sure all the water is gone before I close the wound?

Harbor Freight sells a cheap moisture meter. if you want to take a reading and compare to some comparable material, perhaps a scrap left over from the boat.

Did the boat sit submerged for an extended period of time? if it is was only used occasionally and dried out in between then i would probably just sand the area thoroughly and prep as needed for the repair. If you are really worried, perhaps a day or two to bake outside in the sun?
