Wadefish SOT 15-32

The original concept for this Sit On Top kayak design was for Wadefishermen who need to cover long distances and frequently get in and out of the boat while on the water. We took this concept and shaped it to achieve a hull with genuine surf and rough water capability and have a sea kayak-like, planing hull.

The 15-32 model is a larger version of our original Wadefish.

The cockpit floor is peaked under the knees for paddler comfort. The tankwell is large enough to hold a standard size milk crate and incorporates framing to support a 5-gallon bucket filled with water and bait.

The top panels are tumbled-home (lean in toward the center of the boat) for easier paddling. But they also transition outward toward the bow to provide continuous flare for a drier ride while busting through the surf.

The assembly instructions are highly detailed with 45+ pages of text and illustrations. They include suggestions for installing custom features such as rod holders, pad eyes, and hatches.

Please note: Even though we've gone through extreme efforts to make hull assembly as easy as possible, we recommend at least some prior experience building a project via stitch-and-glue. We have many simple canoe and boat shelve plans that make for excellent, inexpensive, starter projects.

The cockpit and tankwell are both self-bailing which provides for excellent safety in the event you take on water. Sound judgment and paddling skill are still requirements.

The hull has a unique interlocking framing system making assembly very user friendly. This system is integrated into the hull design allowing the use of 3/16" (4 mm) plywood throughout the hull, keeping her light.

The frames were designed with builder customization in mind. A 6" (15 cm) day hatch will fit nicely in the cockpit, plenty of room for a large front hatch, room behind the seat for storage and rod holders, the possibilities are only limited to the builders imagination.
