I can't tell you how hard I've fought to get this one just right. It's not the same as Scott's prototype Blue Fin 12. I doubt I'll ever publish those. It was perfect for Scott but I don't feel the plans would be a good fit for everyone. It had some custom features that would be hard to draw (Scott built from a kit) among other things. But a lot of that design is in this one. I started over probably 7 times to get it just right.
It's 12' x 30" and will hold 275 on board with no water coming up the scuppers. Hull weight will be 45-55 pounds depending on wood chosen. If someone did strip-stitch with red cedar, they might .... MIGHT ... get under 40. And before someone says it: Yes I'm playing with a wood strip SOT but that's several weeks away from being a set of plans for sale.
Somethings different from the 15' version (besides the length and width):
-A single scupper is used in each spot instead of 2. I think 2 is overkill.
-There's a scupper in the seat area.
-The footwell is wider to allow for installing a console. It's not part of plans but if they are easy to design. You will have to work around the single scupper but should be easy to do.
-The internal framing is a bit different to make assembly easier. It's still a SOT and will take time to do. But it has improved.
If I get really crazy, it might be for sale this weekend. I've spent my entire Saturday on it so far so I'm tired. But I want it up for our annual Black Friday sale.
I really like this one. Hope you do too.
